When there’s some paranormal activity at the Burnside Y, who you gonna call? BATGIRL! Is Babs up for some ghost busting?
What you need to know: Batgirl is called in to investigate some paranormal activity at the local Y. She is joined by Kayla P, who is the host of a ghost hunting reality show. A strange apparition appears whenever people get in the pool. Batgirl thinks that there must be a scientific explanation, but what could it be?
What you will find out: Batgirl discovers that the apparition is tied to a missing persons case from the Burnside College. Liana Soto is a brilliant science student who had some breakthroughs on teleportation. Her adviser wanted to steal her ideas and research and used them to teleport Soto to another dimension. After discovering this, Batgirl and Kayla P, help Liana to cross back over and her advisor is arrested by the police.
What just happened: What I just read was very much a one and done filler issue. This isn’t always a bad thing. There have been lots of epic single issue stories in the history of comics. Unfortunately, this wasn’t one of them. Was the story bad? No, it had decent writing and the art is what you expect from a Batgirl comic. But the story just didn’t wow me. The story had some good humor using the Kayla character and her ghost hunting ways, and we get to see Batgirl’s bat swimsuit, so there’s that.
Final Thought: It was a mediocre issue and I was kind of disappointed. I have enjoyed this series so far, and this issue wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t as good as previous entries.
