Anime Axe! (Green Lanterns #27 Comic Review)

Green Lanterns #27
Written by Sam Humphries
Art by Ronan Cliquet
Cover by Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy
What You Need to Know:
Volthoom, the First Lantern, threw two of Earth’s Green Lanterns across time to an earth full of dangerous unknown creatures, almost all of which try to kill them.
What You’ll Find Out:
With no help from the more experienced members of the corps, Simon and Jess have to survive on their own, until they can find help.
What Just Happened?
Jessica Cruz is definitely the highlight of this issue. She has some funny lines and creates some amusing constructs to deal with the savage fauna throughout their quest. Her anime axe is as awesome as it is funny, and what better way to get rid of giant hostile birds than a construct of a house cat attacking its prey?
Yet another Green Lantern is introduced. An artificial intelligent android named Brill with a story about his struggle against isolation, similar to Simon and Jess, in fact, that really hits emotionally in only a few pages.
The Green Lanterns of the past, who have been introduced one by one over the course of a few issues are finally going to unite for the first time… in the next issue. And I can’t wait to see how they interact with each other.
Rating: 7/10
Final Thoughts: A fun set up to a multi part story. And if you’re not one already, this issue will make you a Jessica Cruz fan
