Ready to purify the City of Gotham, Ascalon and his devoted artificial servants go in search of Nomoz to bring a new order. Only one to stand in their way now is Azrael and his new suit.
What you need to know: Jean-Paul has fallen and Azrael the sword of St. Dumas has taken his place, but the team has come together to bring him down. Too busy in stopping Azreal, they lose their sights on Ascalon and his new reformed Bat suits, which haunt for Nomoz. In their haunt they now have a new mission after they kill Nomoz; to purify Gotham from the filth.
What you’ll find out: The Final showdown between Azrael and Ascalon! Truths emerge as Judgment Day comes down on the house of Batman. With his new suit Azrael comes to the truth of what the Order of St. Dumas has done, and who is behind everything. Why are Azrael and Ascalon almost the same person?
What just happened? Rewriting Jean-Paul’s brainwashing code from when he was raised in the Order of St. Dumas, they add in a new code which will overtake and help Jean-Paul fight his demon away. They add in the mind of the greatest detective… Batman! Now with a new suit and the mind of Batman, the new and improved Azrael must face Ascalon in the final battle where questions will be answered. The team tries in hopes to stop Ascalon, only to learn they are no match for him. Zatanna stepping in to save her friends offers Ascalon a gift that no one should have. Will the house of Batman be the same as they find out what Batman has been searching for?
Final Thoughts: The Final Battle for Azrael’s soul has come and it was great. This new arc was very refreshing to see someone else take center stage, and who better than Azrael to do it? His twisted past of what they did to him as a child and what he went through to become a better man is what good writing is about. A great hero’s quest has been written here by James Tynion IV, what better way than to face your past. New adventures and villains will come and go, but Azrael, now a new man will be ready for what will come. Finally, what Ascalon tells Batman, Holy rusted metal Batman!
