Is it groovy enough for a book? (Ash vs Army of Darkness #3 Comic Review)

Ash vs Army of Darkness #3

Written By: Chad Bowers and Chris Sims

Cover/Artist: Mauro Vargas

Synopsis: Since 1981, Ash Williams has been fighting The Army of Darkness. Now, Dynamite Entertainment has released the next thrilling chapter where he continues to fight evil! Ash has become a substitute teacher at Alan Shepard High School to help stop matters from getting worse!

What You’ll Need To Know:

This comic book is a development of the cult classic Evil Dead Trilogy (which includes anti-hero Ash Williams in Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army Of Darkness; it even developed into the TV show Ash vs. Evil Dead). I’m just going to evaluate just in case some of you have never seen ANY of these. Which I’d be really confused if you didn’t, but still cheers to you for chosing a kick ass comic. One night with in the woods, him and his friends discovered The Necronomicon Ex Mortis aka Book of the Dead. It raises the dead when read and possesses the living. Ash Williams has literally been the dark ages and back trying to fight this evil off. Now, after losing his job at S-MART, he is contacted by staff at the local high school because students and faculty have been acting strange and extremely violent. He was contacted because he was the one who saved everyone from a possessed customer with his boomstick! Now he will act as a substitute teacher to get to the bottom of this!

In This Issue:

Ever since Ash was taken back in time to The Middle Ages to fight the Army of Darkness, they have learned his ways of conquering the deadites whenever they come back, with chainsaw and boomstick in hand! Blue button-ups and brown pants are customary as well. In present day after the school has been stricken with the evil, Ash helps the students and principal survive, but a task force dedicated to the eradication of evil entities brought about by the Necronomicon Ex Mortis are here for the fight too. You’d think they’d let the guy who has consistently dealt the deadites before take the reigns, but that’s not the case. They do not believe he is The Promised One either. Most of them are positive about it. Will they be of help or will this team make a bigger mess of things?

Rating: 9/10

Final Thoughts:

Incredible adaptation from the movie! Funny twist from the T.V. show since they’d have a slightly different timeline. TV and books always differ though. If you dig horror comics or are just a hardcore fan of this series, I’d highly suggest picking it up!
