The DEO’s Trap: Supergirl #16 Comic Review

Writers: Jody Houser and Steve Orlando

Penciller: Robson Rocha

Inker: Daniel Henriques

Colorist: Michael Atiyeh

Cover: Rocha, Henriques, and Atiyeh (Variant cover: Stanley “Artgerm” Lau)

Story so Far:

The DEO has weapons that can actually pierce Kara. This is a huge deal, consider nothing has been able to before. This is not the first time that she has been shot by them, but it is the first time that she has actually been injured from the shots. This fills her with hurt, not just physical. All Supergirl wants to do is protect the citizens of the world. However, it seems like the world has everything out to get her instead. There is a villain that is slowly completing his evil quest to take Supergirl down. One. Pawn. At. A. Time.

Summary:

Kara Danvers is forced to go back to being a regular student as the DEO continues their conquest of finding Supergirl. The world continues to fear and ridicule the supers for their very existence. The school Kara attends is being searched for any clues as to Supergirl’s location. Kara is under strict orders to not save anyone as her Earth family is concerned that the increase in people needing help is a trap to lure her in for capture. This, however, does not stop Kara from doing what she believes is right. Sharon Vance is somehow back. (I have a feeling we’ll find out the full story soon.) Kara is forced to take her down again, but before she can explain what is going on, the DEO decides to go in on her. Insight buys her time to get away.

This has been a plot-filled issue. This arc is going to be a big one, and only the next issues will explain just what is going on. Who is Director Bones? Why exactly does the DEO have it out for Supergirl?
