Heather North, Voice of Daphne from ‘Scooby Doo,’ Dead at 71

Heather North, the actress who first voiced Daphne Blake on ‘Scooby Doo,’ has died at 71, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

North died at her home in Studio City, Los Angeles after a long illness. Her late husband, Emmy award-winner, H. Wesley Kenney died in 2015.

It was 1970 when North first voiced Scooby’s most stylish friend. She would continue voicing the fiery redhead for over 30 years. North also appeared in various film, television series, and Broadway shows including playing Sandy Horton on ‘Days of Our Lives.’

North is survived by her son Kevin and his wife Stephanie; stepson Wes and wife Leslie; stepdaughter Nina and husband Brent, and one granddaughter. North’s other stepdaughter, Kara, died a week ago.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon in Studio City.

  1. I was never much of a cartoon-watcher but I always enjoyed this cartoon. My daughter loved Daphne in the 1990s when they showed the Scoobie re-runs. It was such innocent fun. No need to worry about bad language or explicit scenes. Ah, the good old days. Rest in peace, Dear, and thanks for the memories.
