The Punisher #220
Continuing from The Punisher #219, we have Frank deciding to go on the offensive until General Petrov, the main antagonist, evens the odds.
This issue continues Frank’s blood and adrenaline-soaked rampage through the rogue European country of Chernaya. Just like last issue, he intervenes before a sticky certain situation goes further south and starts shooting up the place in typical Punisher fashion. We’re rewarded with a ton of people being killed on the spot as well as a special victim being flown at speeds a normal human can’t survive, according to Frank’s AI. He ignores the warning, leading to a nasty result for his victim. He decides to continue taking the fight to Petrov’s forces until he runs into folks with armor similar to his. After killing one of them, he is forced to flee, but continues fighting until overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the war’s newest arrivals. The fight just got a lot more interesting.
This issue seemed action-heavy to me, which I thoroughly enjoyed as he continues to get used to the War Machine armor. The humor between the two is also a highlight here as it’s been in consistent since the start. The other small touch I like is it appears Frank’s looks are changing to look more like Jon Bernthal, who stars as the character on the hit Netflix show of the same name and season 2 of Daredevil.
