What you need to know:

With the Phoenix trying to force the X-men in one final confrontation to ensure Jean Grey joins with it. Old Man Logan enters the dinner ready to do what he does best.

Minor Spoilers!

What just happened?

Old Man Logan actually approaches this with a cool calm head that the two talk like they do not truly know each other, Annie, I guess being a manifestation of the Phoenix, tries to encourage OML to be on his way. However, it all goes straight to hell when the claws come loose.

Logan’s tactics to get Jean to snap out of whatever the Phoenix is doing may have worked a little too well when she manifests the Phoenix blowing up the dinner, it appears this red and black Phoenix greets her friends.

But Jean’s real battle is about to begin against Phoenix Annie who gives her everything she desires, join with me, embrace the Phoenix and save your nearest and dearest.

Even though she said she may not be able to let go of Scott Summers, the Phoenix played dirty with the ultimate trump card. A beautiful moment ensued between the lovers finally reuniting.

There is also a pretty important conversation between Jean and the Phoenix which shows a whole new meaning to their relationship. It’s rather special.

Welcome Home Jean.

Final Thoughts

The final half really pulled on the old heart strings as Michael created two very important encounters and conversations between Jean, her dead husband Scott, and Phoenix.

Imagine having power capable of turning you into a God, and you can use it to save all of your loved ones. However, you know that it’s wrong and it’s not the natural order of things. I wonder what choice I would make. Honestly, I think that’s what made this finale so special. I’m not sure we’ve ever had the Phoenix actually have a conversation since we usually see it bonding. Does it influence the person or talk to them in some way? Maybe they just seem to express the Phoenix.

I think if this had been just a battle I would not have enjoyed it as much as this the dialogue is spot on. Fantastic job, let’s see how the X-men play out with Jean being back.

I have been into comics since the early 90's and my main passion has been X-men I collect books, figures and any collectiables I can get my hands on. For shoot the breeze I have the pleasure opening my eyes to new worlds and adventures. I also do the Across the Pond Trades where I get an opportunity to look at trade paperbacks and review them via our YouTube channel. I also have my own Facebook page and Youtube called Smerdp which is full of plastic goodness. Many Thanks Paul
