New World, Same Clint: Old Man Hawkeye #1 Review

Intro:

Set a couple of years before the definitive Wolverine story “Old Man Logan” this title “Old Man Hawkeye” follows Clint in a different world forever changed.

Summary:

In this spin off to Old Man Logan, we have an older, slightly more pessimistic version of Hawkeye trying to make his way in the new world. This takes place after the villains have taken over and divided the United States into several zones each controlled by a certain villain. We star with Clint being shown on a job which unfortunately goes sideways, thus leading to some interesting revelations that I won’t spoil. After that, Clint reunites with his daughter before the book takes off. The meeting leads to them having a tense and rather brief discussion which Hawkeye makes peace with. Once they finished talking, we see Hawkeye meet with Logan himself the star from the regular story. They discuss jobs and whatnot as well before Clint leaves again. After these vital discussions, Hawkeye’s journey begins. Another character has come back, which will make the upcoming adventure more intense for our would-be-hero.

Opinions:

This book was a great read. I wish to see even more stories taking place during this era of Marvel history. This was a landmark title for Logan’s character and I think it’ll be almost as good for Hawkeye if lightning can strike twice. The art and pacing in my opinion were both top notch. The cliffhanger at the end was definitely exciting. If you’re reading this, and you haven’t read Old Man Logan, you should get on that too. It’s great! I eagerly await issue #2. There’s a sense of promise for the fast-paced adventure, and I’m excited to begin it too with Old Man Clint.

Summary
If you’re familiar with the classic Old Man Logan story, you’ll be right at home here and can jump in immediately as Hawkeye was in that story as well. Not a new character, but rather, a brand-new adventure and story to learn.
