As the battle for Hell’s Kitchen (and beyond) reaches the next level of intensity, new heroes rise in an attempt to stop the city from falling into chaos…

Recap:
This issue starts with Jessica Jones making contact with Misty Knight. This goes as to be expected based on their shared and very complicated history involving Luke Cage. She has a chat with The Punisher, who I was happy to see back though he didn’t do much in this issue. After that, we are shown The Defenders crew facing off against Diamondback again with some hired help. The fighting ends with Diamondback and his crew being defeated with a few characters returning from earlier in the series toward the end of the climatic battle. The stage is then set for the conclusion of the series with the pieces falling into place.

Opinion:
This issue was enjoyable overall and I enjoyed the action of seeing all the Defenders fight again. It’s hard to top the Iron Fist vs Elektra fight as I’ve enjoyed that fight more than anything. As mentioned earlier, The Punisher fan in me was happy to see him return because it seemed he was missing for too long. Yes he has his current solo adventure that’s going on right now but I like seeing amongst the rest in Hell’s Kitchen as well. Unfortunately, he didn’t do much of anything of note this issue aside from being questioned by Jessica. I hope he gets a noteworthy feat or two before the series ends. Him not doing much is probably to be expected as he isn’t the central focus compared to the Defenders crew. The returning faces definitely get me hyped for the inevitable conclusion with our (I’m guessing new) main antagonist.

Summary
With Diamondback all but defeated the heroes get little to no time for rest. They’re given a warning about the newer player for Hells Kitchen. I’m very interested to see how they deal with the new threat as he seems to be dangerous than Diamondback based on his ability set. This series has been pretty good so far in my opinion. It’ll also be interesting to see how these new arrivals help the main heroes as well. The Defenders got some reinforcements toward the end of the story and they’ll probably need them. I believe the last issue in this run is coming and it’ll be sad to see it go. With that said I’m expecting fireworks and hopefully so more Punisher involvement in the coming skirmish. Here’s hoping this series gets sent off in grand fashion.
