Bonding Time? (Venom #162 Comic Review)

Venom 162 (Poison-X Part 3)

What you need to know:

The Starjammers have been taken prisoner by symbolic bounty hunters, the displaced X-men have teamed up with Venom to save them however the rescue does not go as planned. Whilst trying to save other captured symbiotes the test tubes break and the X-men are consumed.

What just happened?

The X-men have changed bonding with the extra-terrestrial symbiotes and start striking out, Venom knows they are making a mistake thinking they can control the suits. The hunter know as Haze Mancer is not going to give up so easily and clearly Eddies counterpart was the one that got away so it’s good to see some real history with this guy. The X-men are not invulnerable thou and Warren/Symbiote get hit hard by a fame throwing his new allies takes the hit but Warren admits he has not been afraid of fire for a long time. Hank is captured, he also looks that his future horned self, so it’s up to Cyke who has probably been the calmest since the change and fires optics out of his hand who would have thought it.

There are some great moral dilemmas in this issue, Venom wants to kill Haze, Jean tells him X-men kills but Cyke says his now one of them and can do what he has to, I wonder out this could pan out?

There is finally some great banter between Bobby and Hank on how their symbiote partners have manifested themselves, Beast looks like a demon and Iceman almost invisible and that’s how he has been written for a while may the writer actually know what he is doing.

The clock is ticking will the X-men find the captured Starjammers also will they remain bonded to their new friends or is that a bigger trap?

Final Thoughts

I really enjoyed this issue there was so much to the characters with lots of conflicts, banter and some great dialogue.

There was some amazing artworks in this issue showing the X-men altered by bonding with the symbiotes and there were some really cool fight scenes.

I liked the banter between Beast and Iceman who were really close back in the original series so it was a lot of fun to see them showing some sibling rivalry.

I have been into comics since the early 90's and my main passion has been X-men I collect books, figures and any collectiables I can get my hands on. For shoot the breeze I have the pleasure opening my eyes to new worlds and adventures. I also do the Across the Pond Trades where I get an opportunity to look at trade paperbacks and review them via our YouTube channel. I also have my own Facebook page and Youtube called Smerdp which is full of plastic goodness. Many Thanks Paul
