“It’s Clobbering Time” (Marvel Two-In-One #4 Comic Review)

Writer: Chip Zdarsky
Artist: Valerio Schiti
Cover:  Frank Martin

Still hot on the trail (Hopefully) of the rest of the Fantastic 4 family Johnny and Thing team up with an old friend and Rachna to continue the adventure…unfortunately, things don’t go as planned…

Recap:
Ben and Johnny are about to start the next leg of their adventure with Rachna who they met very recently. The objective is the same it’s too track down Reed, Sue, and the kids while finding out what’s been going on with them during the time away. Well, things quickly go from bad to worse when they think they have finally found Reed or at least the area he is in. Ben and Johnny land in another universe within the multiverse at large. As they explore the city they’re in they’re confronted and attacked by Elseworlds versions of She-Hulk and Wolverine. Apparently, things are different in this world because they work for SHIELD emblems on their outfits. After some very bad miscommunication fists start flying as well as bodies. Wolverine ends up wounding Johnny with his claws before he finally comes out with the real reason the pair was confronted. He and SHE Hulk were under the impression that they were Skrulls clueing us onto the fact that THAT world also suffered a Secret Invasion type of battle. Secret Invasion was an older classic story where a shape-shifting alien race infiltrated earth slowly and gradually over time. It took a huge superhero presence to get rid of them which would explain why She-Hulk and Wolverine were so jumpy. Once the sides realize what’s going on they take shelter at their HQ only to be reunited with that earth’s version of Reed. Unfortunately, Reed has had some recent traumatic events in his life so he is different. They mention why with the issue ending in a glimpse of a big amp to Reed’s main nemesis.

Opinion:
This might actually be my favorite issue thus far for the series. I’m VERY impressed with how this is going so far. I’m liking the writing too. I’m torn because I really REALLY want for the 4 to be reunited but I’m enjoying just Torch and Thing working together. The mention of that world’s Dr. Doom being back to his (Most likely) villainous ways is a sight to see as well.

Summary
This is one of my favorite stories thus far and I hope they continue to keep up the momentum. The cameo of Spider-Man was gold but I wish he went with them originally. Of course since it isn’t his book I wouldn’t expect him too but it would have been cool. Seeing that world’s version of the usual F4 players (Doom, Reed, Galactus), make me excited for what’s to come.
