I hate to say it, but Doom is right (Marvel Two-In-One #5 Comic Review)

Writer: Chip Zdarsky

Artist: Valerio Schiti

Color Art: Frank Martin

Still losing their powers, one half of the Fantastic 4 find themselves in a dilemma still. Human Torch and the Thing finally met the new earth’s, Reed Richards. Unfortunately, it’s not the one that they know who tells them of that worlds Dr. Doom who basically became the new Devourer of Worlds. After consuming everything else in the universe only earth is left…and his appetite grows…

Recap:
We start off with Ben and Johnny figuring out their next move. We’re told that Doom will be coming for the earth as everything else has been consumed. He goes to Reed and slaps him starting an argument of sorts. Thing tries to reassure Reed that they can stop Doom as they always have. They are joined by Sue who is the current head of SHIELD in this universe and then Johnny. Technically the Fantastic 4 are for the first time in this arc united here. They continue discussing what can be to stop Doom when some of his Heralds show up. The Fantastic 4 spring into action alongside other heroes to beat the Heralds back. Johnny and Ben though weakened from their loss of connection to the others still decide to help where they can. They are then joined by Dr. Doom himself from the default universe. He admits to following Ben and Johnny to the alternate universe in which they reside for now and throws his hat in as well to stop his other world-devouring self. He actually shakes hands with Reed giving us a glimpse of a powerful duo. After having an idea for more allies Ben and Johnny go to a farm where Silver Surfer going by Norrin and his wife are. We haven’t seen him at all until now where he also joins them. The issue concludes with the Fantastic two imparting the information to Surfer that Dom is coming. He is shown floating above the city in the last panel.

Opinion:
These issues just keep getting better and better. I keep saying I have a new favorite issue and yes this one is for sure my favorite. Good action, seeing the 4 fight as one again, the Reed/Doom moment, showing Surfer, and the other Doom at the end makes this a memorable one. The art is top notch too and I feel like the pacing is for sure hitting its stride as we get further into this story. Doom and Reed on the same team too even if an alternate Reed will be something to remember. I’m excited for the next issue to see what they cook up to beat the evil Victor.

Summary
This one is leading to a crazy confrontation between the Fantastic 4 and Doom versus Doom lol. This issue was fire all the way through. I’m loving what they’re doing giving us the Fantastic 4 back and it gets me even more excited for their eventual book that comes out. If one of Marvels best groups excites you on any level you NEED to be reading this. Also check out their future book when it comes out too.
