The Punisher’s war against the leadership of Chernaya continues. After having killed most of General Petrov’s men he finds himself on a collision course with the General himself. As a last ditch effort to save face and to stop Frank, the General launched a nuclear missile with Frank in pursuit…
We start off with Frank flying after the missile that General Petrov launched. Unfortunately, he is falling behind and sheds his weapons and pieces of his armor to fly faster. Frank catches up to the missile and after some quick thinking stops the detonation. Fury, tired of how far the Punisher has gone, sets off a special EMP which fries the suits Frank and the rogue SHIELD agents are in. While on the ground he and the last agents under Petrov’s employ do battle again this time with no suits. Though the agents are well trained they’re no match for the Punisher who kills them. He finds Petrov who has a suit that was shielded from the EMP blast. They proceed to fight with Frank evening the odds by taking advantage of the weak spots on the suit. After fighting and going airborne, Frank finally succeeds in killing General Petrov. We go next to Fury being shown and he engages in a conversation with a certain character who should be looking to settle up with Frank soon enough.
This was a thrilling end to this arc. I was really reserved about this arc before it started but they won me over after no time. I still prefer the Punisher as a street level character but this was still a fast paced, adrenaline-soaked ride. I enjoyed how he took down an armored Petrov without any armor himself. We get to see Frank think on his feet and adapt as necessary and this book was no exception. The Punisher and War Machines armor is a match made in heaven…or hell lol.
