Previously on Black Panther…

Last issue we experienced a battle that was a long time coming, Black Panther versus Klaw. We patiently waited for the battle, only to find out that there was another villain at play.

My Take

So the final take for the “Avengers of the World” is here. I know I have expressed I’ve enjoyed Kirk’s art before but this issue was awe-inspiring. Kirk, in conjunction with the coloring by Martin and Milla, was outstanding this issue. There are great contrasts, color schemes, and the way the color changed with the mood of the scene. The action was solid, as tense as can be expected and I really had a sense of danger for the characters that I did not have in previous issues of this storyline. I love the way things wrap up and not because of who comes out on top but because I didn’t see it coming. We learn a lot about the characterization of T’Challa. Hate or love it, he is the King of this Superhero-ish story right now.  Also Shuri is awesome, as usual, and in the end so is Storm. I do have a few gripes – 3 to be exact.

Gripes

Numero uno: I wish we wouldn’t keep harping on Storm’s claustrophobia as a plot device to drive suspense. Aren’t we beyond that? Doesn’t she have more depth than that by now? Number two: this 1984 villain is the most random introduction of all time. Never saw it coming and I had do significant research to two years before I was born on Wikipedia and Marvel Unlimited to figure out who he was. And lastly, this issue went SO fast with a major cliffhanger at the end that I fear will get glossed over in the future. But even with all of that, I still loved it because the mark of a great writer is someone who leaves you begging for more. I can’t wait for the next frontier for T’Challa, Storm, Shuri and the rest of our Wakandan Warriors.

In Conclusion

Hmmm…so this phase is over. I have a few question -. Will the relaunch bridge the current and the new situation next month?  Is this truly the end? Many fans will be disappointed if that ending never gets addressed again. Overall, this was a great issue and season finale for this storyline. It might have gone pretty quickly but mostly because I was in such a rush to see what happened next.

I do a few reviews (Black Panther) and I do news. I am a fan of both Marvel and DC heroes, Black Panther, Superman, Batman, The X-Men, Watchmen, to name a few. I also am streamer of a high degree, Netflix, Hulu plus, HBO, & Prime Video occupy a lot of my time when I'm not trying to save world in Education.
Summary
The actual end was more of a fulfilling ending than last issue could have been. The battle was what I had wished Klaw battle was going to be. Tales of suspense and prime illustration of the manipulative genius that is T’Challa. Nice conclusion, but the kind you don't want to end.
Good
  • T’Challa is a mastermind
  • Storm came through!
  • The art was spectacular
  • Action is consistent
Bad
  • Really, we’re going to do this to Storm?
  • Final villain too random
  • Ending is a big deal that might get ignored.
