Jason gets a little help trying to battle Dark Gods

WHAT HAPPENED:

Taking place during the events of Wonder Woman Annual #2, this issue sees Jason trying to battle the Dark Gods alone. Jason charges into battle full of confidence but, his armor allows him the power of The Gods, but only one at a time. This coupled with his inexperience allows the Dark Gods to beat him down really quickly. His salvation comes in the form of a rescue from Supergirl. After introductions with her the Justice League makes a surprise appearance and more introductions are made. Jason, Supergirl, and the Justice League then rush to take on the Dark Gods together.

WHAT MARY HAS TO SAY:

There really isn’t much I can say about this issue. It’s just flat out boring and the script is entirely to blame. The issue sort of picks up when Supergirl saves Jason, but after awkward introductions, there are even more awkward introductions when the Justice League arrives. Jason doesn’t fit with any of these characters, I feel like that was the point, but I think this may have backfired on Robinson. It proves that any novelty Jason may have had has worn off. It’s time to ditch him and move on. Make the book about Diana again. Merino’s art is pretty amazing in this issue. It’s really the only thing that made the issue readable, it’s just a shame it’s attached to such a poor script.
