“Suicide Sprints” (Cloak & Dagger S1E2 TV Review)

Cloak & Dagger

Cast:

Olivia Holt: Dagger

Aubrey Joseph: Cloak

Alex Garcia Lopez: Director

Last Week on Cloak & Dagger:

We saw how our two heroes were blessed/cursed with their powers as children through flashback scenes. But they have not realized that they even have powers. Fast forward to their teens. Tyrone is attending a nice Catholic private school and Tandy is trying to navigate a life of crime living on the streets.

This Past Episode:

It’s here that both teens begin to notice something is happening to them. Tyrone begins to remember that fateful night his brother was murdered. He then has a chance run-in with the police officer that killed his brother. This sets in motion the thoughts of revenge that start to take over Tyrone.

Tandy is finding that she too is experiencing things she can not explain. During one of these episodes, she is forced to defend herself with harrowing consequences. Now, she must go on the run with a detective hot on her trail.

Our Heroes

Final Thoughts:

So far the show is shaping up to be quite entertaining. The origin story told through flashback scenes is well done and keeps you informed of how Tandy and Tyrone came to where they are. There are also small clues hidden in these scenes that must be paid attention to. Again, the effects work well on the television format.

The acting is top-notch up to this point. Both Joseph and Holt are showing great potential here. The actors playing the supporting roles are also top notch. The story is not becoming overly complicated at this time. If it continues at this pace it should flow nicely and be very entertaining. I do hope that they bring our two heroes together pretty quickly and not drag it out over too many episodes. In what seems to be a side plot, I am interested in what role Tyrone’s Priest is gonna play.

Summary
If you are not watching this show, I would suggest giving it a try. It still has a ways to go to convince me it will be great in the long run. But at this time, it is pretty good.
