After dealing with the foreign crisis in Chernaya and coming home to a less than stellar welcome, Frank is on the run again. He was jumped by Captain Marvel and a bunch of superheroes last issue, but was able to elude them. His next mission is to dig up dirt on Hydra by way of the CIA…

Recap:

As foreshadowed in the last issue, Frank hit CIA headquarters to get information on Hydra operatives. He stated this is how he plans to make amends for initially siding with them in Secret Empire (absolutely terrible writing to me, I don’t care what anyone says). After getting his info and causing a lot of damage in the act, he heads to his target: Baron Zemo. He isn’t able to kill him, but is tipped off that Hydra is poised to make a comeback. They have some serious staying power, don’t they?

Anyways, unfortunately Frank didn’t take into account Zemo planning for such a meeting and brining backup. He gets attacked by Zemo’s forces, but manages to hold his own once he gets peeled out of his armor. Facing certain death, some heroes from earlier encounters break it up and chase Hydra off. After Frank refused to give the armor back to them, some of the heroes come to the same understanding that the he has: Hydra must pay.

Opinion:

This issue was everything I love about The Punisher: funny as hell, action packed, etc. Less gore than other issues in this series, but I can live with that. The cameos in this issue were definitely a highlight as it was quite a few just like the last one. I would recommend this issue because this arc has been pretty solid so far.

Summary
Another action packed testosterone soaked adventure for Marvel’s hardest character. I’ll never forgive Marvel for the garbage writing of having him be HYDRA but at least Frank is trying to make amends. I can respect that and hope it’s something that can be forgotten at a later time. Still though this War Machine deal has been a overall success as far as I’m concerned. I’m looking forward to Zemo catching that work and HYDRA Steve if he pop up.
