What You Need to Know:

After a hard-fought battle with the Magnog, Jane Foster has taken a step away from carrying the mantle of Thor and is back to battling her cancer. But, there must always be a Thor and he has come back, and despite still being unworthy of lifting his hammer, he is still the God of Thunder. And with Asgardia and the Rainbow Bridge destroyed while Malekith’s off conquering all the ten realms, he is needed more than ever!

In This Issue:

Thor is back to his duties as best he can with his new hammer trying to retrieve lost artifacts of Asgard that could help rebuild it. But it’s not as easy as the God of Thunder thinks. With old foes and old frenemies upset at his return, he is going through hammers faster than the dwarves can make them. But he is still hopeful and pushing through as he visits both Asgardia and Earth to see how his friends, family, and people are doing. However, it’s the unexpected visit of someone he would rather not see that has him back out in the field trying to stop Malekith from continuing his war that is headed straight for Earth!

In the far future, the All Father-Thor is out with his three granddaughters when he hears that Jane, his creation when all mankind was destroyed eons ago, is on the verge of death. After her passing, his granddaughters worry that Thor is keeping something from them and sure enough, Thor is forced to go out to the farthest reaches of now-dead space to find an unexpected old friend.

My Thoughts:

Now, as mad as people are that Jane!Thor is gone, we must remember that Jason Aaron has had a fantastic story line going on since she started. The fact that people are slightly sour that Thor is back is silly. If you had been reading, this wouldn’t bother you even a little, seeing as Malekith’s still wreaking havoc as only he can do. The artwork by Mike Del Mundo is different for the Thor universe, but manages to work very well within the pages.Everything flows well together for our man Thor’s return.

Summary
If you’re worried about continuing with Thor now that Jane is gone, don’t be. This first issue is a perfect way to restart the original God of Thunder’s Journey back to being worthy. And, as said earlier, it flows so well with the story Jane had started. It’s time for Thor to finish it and we should all look forward to it.
