WHAT JUST HAPPENED:

Harley was certain someone was after her! They trashed her favorite Bodega and she found a paper with the German word for ‘destroy’ on one side and her name on the other, so naturally, it was someone coming after her and her taxidermied beaver, Bernie. On her way to find out who was after her, Harley came across one of Professor Pyg’s experiments who offers to help.

THIS WEEK:

Harley is face to face with The Reaper ready to fight. Unfortunately, she is caught along with her new friend that she calls Frank and both The Reaper and Professor Pyg are trying to figure out who gets to kill her. While they argue and leave the room, Harley convinces one of the Reaper followers to release her, convincing them that they don’t really want to kill Harley and Frank, which June, the Reaper agrees.

Frank and June are ready to make a run for it, but Harley tells them that they have to stick it out for a little while longer or more innocent people will be killed. So she sends them off to go stir up both sides and when all of the minions arrive with their respective leaders, Harley throws a rock at one of them to start a fight. Harley takes on Professor Pyg and the Reaper all by herself questioning which one was stupid enough to want her dead. They both deny wanting her dead previously and promise to end it all now, but Harley knocks them out just as Frank and June, the only two people left in the room, confess their love for each other.  Harley invites herself on their first date with them, but some of her squad shows up and Frank and June head off towards the sunset together.

Who was really behind the Bodega robbery? Just a regular criminal with a huge rap sheet. And so, Harley heads off with her friends ready to start a new adventure.

ABOUT THE ART:

Harley is such a fun character and I love how they both draw and write her character. She is very unique and I can always hear her voice from the animated series in my head when she talks. This week, I really enjoyed the way Andolfo portrayed Harley’s interesting personality. You can never predict what Harley will do and I feel that Andolfo really captured that with each panel.

Summary
I was expecting so much more from this issue. They could have gone a million different ways after last week, and I feel like it just fell a little short of where it should have ended. We've had some great Harley stories, and this one wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as many of the others we've had lately. Also, Professor Pyg is a horrible monster that I really really disliked.
Good
  • The Reaper
  • Frank and June
Bad
  • Professor Pyg
  • overly simple
6.5
