Caden Park and the Immortal Men gather for a rest at an old speakeasy that Ghostfist lives in. After escaping the House of Conquest and their bloodless minions, Caden finds himself in complete disbelief at everything that has just transpired. Noticing this, Ghostfist extends his hand out to Caden and reveals to Caden his tactile telepathy. Which perfectly explains all of the daydreamings when he receives unwanted human contact. Floored by this information, Caden begins to have a nervous breakdown when the Immortal Man shows up. The leader of the House of Action informs Caden that he is their only hope for survival when their short rest comes to an abrupt end with an interruption by the bloodless led by the Infinite Woman herself!

This Issue

Starts us off with the Immortal Man and the Infinite Woman in a less than familiar setting, as cavemen who not only know each other but are to be brother and sister! Revealing their names to the audience and explaining where their immortality comes from…We are told more about the immortal houses and that there used to be five in total, each of them embodying what they think will bring humanity to new heights and further their development. When we return to the present we see the brother and sister in bitter and captivating combat. When immortals fight, it’s like watching the most violently elegant ballet and the Immortal Men are left to protect Caden as he finds himself in awe at the dance of death before him.

Opinions

With each new issue of this new series, I find myself begging for more. Waiting a month for each issue is almost painful with how compelling of a story is being told here. In tandem with Jim Lee’s creative mind for the visuals, this series is turning out to have a permanent spot for me at the edge of my seat. This is a series for the old school comic fans and the new fans who haven’t found a series to really grab them just yet. It lacks the need to read all this background due to its youth, yet feels like a dive into a world of extreme depth that we are just waiting to read about.

Born in Florida, dragged to California because of Internet dating. Comics have always helped me have a healthy escape when I was younger. As I got older my friends used me as their comic encyclopedia for random trivia. Now, I show my daughter all the stories and characters that helped me through, and being able to share my views on that through reviews is one of my favorite privileges.
Summary
I can't help but be further and further impressed with this developing series. Certainly, a great way to kick off a new age of heroes. Jim Lee and James Tynion seem to be on the same wavelength with how well the illustrations go with the writing. Every issue has a way to leave me hanging off of the cliff begging for more and more information on this secret society of immortals before I drive myself nuts, Alas, I must wait until next month.
