DC Universe adds “Star Girl” as it’s next live action series

Earlier this morning at San Diego Comic-Con, Geoff Johns, current writer for DC and passed Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics, said that at a panel later today they would be announcing their newest show coming to the streaming app, DC Universe. Now, we know what it is. DC Universe 

The series will feature Courtney Whitmore uncovering the secrets of her family and the Justice Society of America. It will debut in 2019 with a 13-episode Season 1, developed by Johns’ production company, Mad Ghost. The hero debuted in 1999, a co-creation of Johns and Lee Moder. Stargirl’s appearance and mannerisms were inspired by Johns’ sister, who was among the victims of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. No Info is known if actress Sarah Grey will reprise her role as Star Girl from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

 

 

 

 

“Stargirl” now is the 4th ongoing live-action show along with the previously announced Titans which the trailer you can watch here, Doom Patrol show and Swamp Thing directed by Aquaman director James Wan.

Stargirl is well known for being the second “Star-Spangled Kid” and later Stargirl and being on several superhero teams including Young Justice, The Justice Society of America, and Justice League United.

 

Earlier this morning the pricing options for DC Universe were released, with annual subscriptions to the service running $74.99 and $7.99 for a monthly fee. Pre-orders for annual subscriptions were made available today at DCUniverse.com with a pre-order bonus of three free months. As a special incentive for Comic-Con weekend, fans who pre-order between Thursday, July 19th and Sunday, July 22nd will be entered into sweepstakes to attend the US premiere of Aquaman in December.

The release date for DC Universe is still set for “fall 2018,” and at launch, the platform will be made available for iOS and Android devices, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Android TV.
