In this Issue:
The final arc concludes. Bloodshot is trying to find his way back to the present while Magic and the Bloodshot Corps lead a charge to rescue Jessie. The final stage is set on Jeff Lemire’s time in Valiant and things look to end with a bang!
This issue puts a cap on Jeff Lemire’s run in a pretty fast way. It moves through the story at break neck speeds and it does cap off all of the plots running through the book. I wouldn’t say that it is entirely satisfying either. The ending is really nice and with a touching monologue, but the meat and potatoes ends the arc abruptly. I would say this was one of the least enjoyable issues of a very good series. It had to be to end the series, so for that it succeeds.
The art is impressive as the series has been since issue one. This has been one of my favorite Valiant series in terms of the art and coloring direction. It manages to hold that formula true even at the end. The action looked brutal, the quiet moments tranquil and 4001 looked starkly different than anything in the present.
