Sometimes in life, we feel isolated from everything, and no matter how often you try to say you’re not the feeling just can’t be shaken. Those feelings then lead us to sometimes do things that may be indicative of our own desperation. In this new mini-series, Batman: Damned, we are shown Bruce in this exact position but in a more literal sense, with Batman strapped to a gurney in the back of an ambulance bleeding out from a gaping wound in his torso. As the EMTs begin to cut the cowl away, Bruce awakens, beats the snot out of the group and escapes. Fumbling through the streets of Gotham in a frantic attempt to seek medical attention when eventually he collapses. Only to be found by a John Constantine in a pile of trash bleeding out.

Bruce awakens in a run-down apartment building with all of his wounds healed, trying to get his bearings. John skips the small talk and turns the news on, showing Batman that somehow in his recovery, Joker had died. Bruce immediately runs out to find out who’s responsible and find that things are quite amiss, Joker may be dead. But he is felt everywhere.

Born in Florida, dragged to California because of Internet dating. Comics have always helped me have a healthy escape when I was younger. As I got older my friends used me as their comic encyclopedia for random trivia. Now, I show my daughter all the stories and characters that helped me through, and being able to share my views on that through reviews is one of my favorite privileges.
Summary
This first issue of the series is a very strong start to what feels like is going to be one of the much darker arcs we've ever seen from Batman in a while. I gotta be honest with you readers, a little bit about me, I'm a HUGE metalhead. Not your hair band or hard rock type of stuff, death metal, blast beats pig squeals and a punch in the face. So I'm more than excited for this coming darkness, the art is a wonderful juxtaposing heretically biblical art with the Dark Knight was one of the smartest ideas ever. I'm a bit of a fanboy though. So go check it out.
