In early September Marvel announced that Guardians of the Galaxy will be relaunched in 2019 with a new series and new team from writer Donny Cates(Death of the Inhumans) and artist Geoff Shaw(Heavy Metal). At the time, it was unknown who would be part of the team. Today Marvel revealed the first member: Frank Castle.
As Frank Castle, the Punisher, recently became Cosmic Ghost Rider, its narratively logical that he would be involved in space-based story. The series will take place in the aftermath of Infinity Wars with the Guardians finding their presence is needed more than ever before. There is also a tease that all cosmic superheroes will feature in some way in the upcoming series.
Cates issued a statement about the series: “This was our chance to do things we’ve always wanted to do. To tear #$%@ up. And of course Cosmic Ghost Rider is on the team. How could he not be?”
Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw’s Guardians of the Galaxy is sounding like it will be a treat for fans of Marvel’s cosmos and specifically the Guardians‘ fans.
