Hidden Hounds (Extermination #3 Comic Review)

Writer: Ed Brisson

Color: Marte Garcia
Cover: Mark Brooks
Letters: Joe Sabino

What you need to know:
Kid Cable is collecting X-men to send them back, Iceman has joined his collection, and he has already started to get to work removing Angel’s fire wings. Plus killing adult Cable, which still makes no sense, and using Mimic  to revert them to the original state. Ahab also has a need for one of the original X-men but has yet to capture one, he attacked the mansion and turned Logan into a Hound.

What just happened?
Ahab continues his onslaught on the mansion using a crazed Logan to do his bidding as a hound ready to pounce on the young Beast whilst Scott who is in an underwater base can only watch and Jean Grey is taking her duties to protect him seriously.

Ahab has clearly grown tired of slowly brain washing mutants over time as he has found two young mutants who can speed up the process. Just when it looks dire for older Beast, the rest of the X-men take to the offensive.

So Ahab reveals his hand activating, other agents that are with the young Jean and Scott and his chosen subjects are shocking whilst being deadly at the same time.

With fights in mid air and under water, will the young X-men survive this round and be send back home as part of Kid Cable’s plan?

Ahab walks through the mansion with a true purpose –  “Beast surrender or I take one of your friends” …the ultimatum is there. Can he live with himself or is he a coward?

Final Thoughts
What a roller coaster of a ride! Now this is an X-men event! I haven’t seen such a could event since Second Coming finished. But through it all I am actually really gutted because once this is done, no more out of time original X-men. I am interested in how Kid Cable fixes the timeline and was this what Bendis intended the first time or was the Marvel creative team just keeping them around until some one had a bright idea…

I did enjoy the X-force team and Jean interacting with each other the most…Talking about how they are different from the X-men team and when they find kid Cable, they plan to dispatch him ear from ear as Warpath put it but that does seem illogical? Maybe Jean is going to get her hands dirty…

Also one thing that bothered me was Professor X said they had unfinished business in the future but since returning I am not seeing what he meant. It would have been great for them to have one final purpose and effect on the other X-men.

I have been into comics since the early 90's and my main passion has been X-men I collect books, figures and any collectiables I can get my hands on. For shoot the breeze I have the pleasure opening my eyes to new worlds and adventures. I also do the Across the Pond Trades where I get an opportunity to look at trade paperbacks and review them via our YouTube channel. I also have my own Facebook page and Youtube called Smerdp which is full of plastic goodness. Many Thanks Paul
